Podcast #1: Introducing Data Leadership in Berlin

Season #1

Over the past decades, Berlin has transformed from a quiet city to a thriving hub for startups. It took off around 2011 as a fast copy cat of bringing ideas from the US to Europe supported by the two major local Venture Capital firms Team Europe and Rocket Internet. 2014-2018 things got accelerated when ventures such as HelloFresh, GlossyBox, DeliveryHero, and Zalando started international expansion. In the last years, Berlin created 17 unicorns, overtook London as the number one startup city in Europe and turned into the crypto hub of Europe. In this episode, we look at data, analytics and AI from the lens of three of Berlin's most iconic tech companies: Hello Fresh, WeFox and Zalando. We discuss together with Robin Jose, Chief Data and Analytics Officer at WeFox, Europe's largest insurance tech valuated at $4.5B, and with Clemence Chee, Global Director of Data at HelloFresh, which globally distributed 1B meals to 7.5 million customers since it was founded in 2011. Learn about their personal journeys as data leaders, their breakthroughs, lessons learned, and what it takes to be a data leader in such an environment.
